We dedicate this collection of activities to intermediate and advanced levels in project management. Develop the set of skills essential to project management and create an experiential, collaborative learning experience!
Included Activities
1. The Change
Participants discover which factors positively influence how they respond to a changing work environment, and which factors negatively impact them, as in determining whether to avoid or postpone any action related to this topic. This way, they become aware of the levers they could use to overcome the resistance and start acting more proactively in times of change.
Group size: 1-5 teams of up to 4-7 participants/team
Duration: ~30 min for 3 teams; additional 3 min/team if more than 3 teams
2. My role as Project Manager
Knowing what is expected of a Project Manager will take participants one step closer to defining the best approach when it comes to communicating and sparking engagement in clients, sponsors, and team members. This activity is meant to provide the participants with the proper setup to discover what needs and expectations of these three types of interlocutors they should meet as part of their role.
Group size: 1-5 teams of up to 4-5 participants
Duration: 30 min for 3 teams; additional 3 min/team if more than 3 teams
3. WBS practice
This activity allows participants to practice using the Work Breakdown Structure project management tool. They break down a project into smaller components so that no task is overlooked. This decomposition activity shows the hierarchy of tasks and allows the participants to determine the proper approach in terms of efficiency and resources involved.
Group size: 1-5 teams of up to 4-7 participants/team
Duration: 30 min for 3 teams; additional 3 min/team if more than 3 teams
4. Power interest grid
Participants list and categorize all the stakeholders involved in a project by considering their power over the work and their interest in it. The different combinations of different levels of power and interest that arise become a practical structure for better stakeholder management. The visual representation of the power interest grid is useful in choosing the right approach when interacting with them.

5. Elements of value (A)
Participants discuss and share with their teammate’s Participants discuss and share with their teammates the most valuable aspects they discovered during the training session/day, in terms of validation, clarification, and novelty. The differences or similarities in perspective can also be of value to the group. Let the exploration and acknowledgment begin!
Group size: 3 participants/team
Duration: 15 min; additional 3 min/team if more than 3 teams
6. Stakeholder engagement
Participants work in their daily professional activity as Project Managers with different types of stakeholders and this activity helps them become more aware of the engagement level of each one of them. This is the first step in knowing who to count on and start defining ways to move them from one category to another to build a critical mass of supporters that ensures a smooth roll-out of the project.
Group size: 1-5 teams of up to 3-4 participants/team

7. ROAM activity
This activity is centred around finding the appropriate approaches for effectively handling the potential risks entailed by a project developed within the organization. There are 4 main approaches: Resolved, Owned, Accepted, Mitigated, ergo the acronym ROAM.
Group size: 1-5 teams of up to 3-4 participants/team
Duration: 40 min; additional 3min/team if more than 3 teams
8. Elements of Value x3
Participants discuss and share with their teammates the insights they gained during the training session from 3 perspectives: something new, something they like, and something to apply to their work. Being in agreement or having different opinions brings both validation and complexity to the table.

Duration: 15 min; additional 3 min/team if more than 3 teams
