Description
This brainstorming activity helps participants define and refine their approaches as Project Managers. They think of 3 perspectives: managing people involved in a project, achieving better results and developing skills crucial to project management. This activity is the perfect opportunity to share ideas or to be as creative as possible in defining a series of approaches essential to a PM’s activity.
Flow
Introduction
- Introduce the activity to the participants and split them into teams.
- Each team will name a team coordinator to facilitate the discussion in the breakout room. In the end, they will present the outcome to the other teams. The team coordinators can rely on the ideas written within the predefined template.
- Provide the activity link to each team.
Work
- Participants brainstorm about 3 major dimensions of their activity as Project Managers. It’s about managing people, achieving results, and developing skills.
- They write down on virtual sticky notes their ideas on how they can develop their ability in managing these areas.
- Then they can cluster the ideas even further since they can freely move the sticky notes on the board.
Debrief (suggested)
- The team coordinator from each team will present the outcome to the other teams.
- The facilitator may ask the following questions:
- What did you discover during this activity?
- Which one of these approaches do you consider to be the easiest one to put into practice?
- Do you need certain resources to implement these ideas? Can you name a few?
